Joel Embiid ruled out for remainder of 2024-2025 season

The Philadelphia 76ers have made the decision to rule star Center Joel Embiid out for the remainder of the 2024-2025 season due to “ongoing issues with his left knee.”

An injury that dates back to last year, saw Embiid trying to play through it. However, it is visibly apparent that Embiid was never fully healthy whenever he hit the floor. Massive bandages and taping left a bulging around his knee that limited his mobility and production altogether.

“It felt good at times, it felt not as good at times,” Nurse said. “It’s been kind of an up-and-down thing. It gets to the point where it feels a little bit better and he can go play. Then it swells up again and it doesn’t feel that good and he can’t play as well, can’t move as well.”

As Embiid took necessary precautions to tend to his knee; the media, and 76ers fanbase, became antsy, questioning the true nature of Embiid’s injury and absence, forcing the NBA to get involved.

The superstar Center was officially shelved for the remainder of the season, the team announced Friday (Mar. 1st).

Embiid acknowledged earlier this month, noting that his unavailability has been an ongoing issue and that he may have to undergo another surgery on his left knee.

“I think the straightforward answer is that when you’ve got something that’s inconsistent, at some point, you’ve got to do something about it,” Embiid said. “We don’t know what it is. We’re looking into every option.”

According to NBA.com, Embiid concluded a series of tests on his knee earlier this week, with the final determination listing him medically unable to play. The 76ers say they are working with medical experts to determine an exact treatment plan.

The 76ers are 8-11 with Embiid this season; 12-27 without him.
