Kevin Hart Named On-court Emcee for 2025 NBA All-Star Game

Kevin Hart is used to breaking records in the comedy world. This weekend, Hart will be making history in the NBA, serving as the first ever on-court emcee for the 2025 NBA All-Star game.
In this reimagined NBA main event, Kevin Hart has been selected to bring live play-by-play to those in attendance, creating a ‘street ball’, Rucker park type of feel during the game.
The announcement was made by the league through a video in which Golden State star Draymond Green personally calls Hart to invite him to the NBA All-Star game. Hart accepted the invitation, assuming that he was going to be playing amongst the leagues’ elite. When Green told Hart that his athletic services weren’t needed, Hart insinuated that he wants to take on a bigger role in the event, rather than just sitting and watching the action.
He then calls Shaquille O’Neal, one of the All-Star teams’ general managers, in an attempt to make his ‘takeover’ official. O’Neal answers the phone while he is on the set of ‘NBA on TNT’ seconds before they show goes ‘live’. Hart began to coerce O’Neal to take his spot at the event; Hart had Green’s invitation, he just needed O’Neal’s approval.

The NBA said Hart’s role will be to “add a layer of comedic disruption into the live game” while also hyping up of the players and fans.
Kevin Hart, a well-known 76ers fan Philadelphia native, has a great relationship with the NBA. Hart is widely regarded as the greatest NBA all-star celebrity player of all time. He holds the record for most MVP’s (4), in which he won consecutively.

Hart is also known for teasing NBA players whenever he sits court-side. In 2017, there was a viral story of how when James Harden played for the Rockets, Hart trashed talked Harden so much, that he dropped 51 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists against the Sixers.
The 2025 NBA All-Star game is scheduled to kick off on Sunday, February 16th, at 8 p.m. EST.
