Glorilla’s connection to God is well documented. Her latest collaboration with Kirk Franklin and Maverick City has made her musical efforts in praising God, successful beyond measure.

GloRilla’s “Rain Down on Me” debuts at #1 on Hot Gospel Songs chart, marking GloRilla’s first ever appearance on Billboard’s faith-based charts.

Glorilla — whose real name is Gloria Hallelujah Woods — took us to church with her song “Rain Down on Me”. A Gospel undertone, piano structured instrumental with plenty of bass and 808, Glorilla’s ability to be authentic to God  is what makes this inspirational record was exceptional.

Kirk Franklin opens and closes the song with his pastor-like approach, immediately drawing the listener in for a good word. Maverick City did an excellent job in bringing harmony to the track. The choir piece was perfectly placed for you admire someone’s testimony, and it was going to be Glorilla that gave the good word.

Glorilla thanks God for continuous favor, and asks rain down the more blessings. Glorilla asks God for protection of herself, her family, friends, and even her enemies. She continues on praising God for forgiveness and ask her for discernment to make the correct judgements in the business, and personal relationships she maintains, as she is human and prone to make mistakes.

Glorilla grew up in a Christian rooted household, where her parents were — according to her — really strict. She felt her sacred side was strong enough and wanted to venture and experience secular music.

“My mama was strict—but apparently I still ended up doing what I wanted to do.” she told GQ. “We’d steal the CDs and download all the songs onto the PlayStation. That was the only way we could listen to other music. We probably wouldn’t have known nothing other than gospel music if it wasn’t for us being bad.”
